What is Joya?

Joya is an inclusive and supportive fitness and wellbeing platform owned and run by women. We’re here to help people find joy in their bodies and feel empowered with knowledge about their physical and mental health, with a tailored programme of fun, on-demand content.

For anyone who feels like they’re not seen or heard when they talk about their health, their body, or their experiences – Joya wants to be here for you, empower you, and help you find the joy in your body.

Our bodies are amazing, and we should celebrate them! From pelvic health to menstruation, from pregnancy to perimenopause, Joya brings honest, candid conversations to the forefront. No shame! No stigma! There’s no need.

When asked why she launched Joya, founder Louise says "Movement and building strength are so good for your overall wellbeing at all stages of life. But a lot of this stuff is not taught to us or spoken about as we grow up, so we can’t prepare our bodies for life’s changes until we’re right in the middle of it! 

With Joya I aim to help people with similar experiences and empower them with the tools I didn’t have. Like many others, I really felt let down by the healthcare support I received after giving birth to my son in 2019. I didn’t feel like I was given the tools to rehabilitate afterwards and felt like I was being told I didn’t matter - and I knew I wasn’t alone in feeling this way!" and so Joya was born. 

Joya is a joyful antidote to gaslighting, gatekeeping, shaming, and silencing - both medical and social. There’s a huge gender gap in health studies, with 92% of data focused on the bodies of cisgender men. 

We want to help people affected by this imbalance! That’s why we offer tailored programmes and on-demand tools that help people experience the joy of movement and feel empowered with knowledge about their body for every stage in life. 

Can I try Joya before I subscribe? 

Yes! Our 14 day free trial is available to all new customers. After that, we have different subscriptions available; 

  • £14.99 - paid monthly 
  • £39 - paid every 3 months 
  • £66 - paid every 6 months
  • £108 - paid every 12 months

Can I cancel my subscription? 

Yes, if you cancel within your 14 day free trial period, you will not be charged anything once it’s finished. If you decide to cancel after your trial period, you will still have access to all of our classes, but your card won’t be charged at the next billing period. 

Does my subscription auto-renew? 

Once you have signed up for a subscription, you will receive an order confirmation email listing the subscription name and price paid.

When your subscription is due for renewal, you will receive an email from us notifying you. If you wish to renew it, don’t worry, you don't have to do anything. If you wish to cancel it, just head to; 

  • “My Account”
  • “Billing” 
  • “Change Plan” 
  • “Cancel Membership”

I’m pregnant, can I still do your classes?

Yes! We have lots of classes and series that have been specifically designed for those who are pregnant from 12 weeks. We also have some classes in our library which are labelled as “Pregnancy Friendly”. These classes are available to anyone who's pregnant from 12 weeks, even if you’ve never done yoga or pilates before. 

If you have an established yoga or pilates practice, know how to modify for pregnancy and are at least 12 weeks pregnant, then you may want to check out some of our other classes. Please be aware that the teacher will not be offering modifications during these classes though and it’s down to you to know how to modify. 

I’ve just had a baby, can I still do your classes? 

Yes! We have lots of classes and series that have been specifically designed for postnatal people in mind and depending on what stage of the postpartum journey you’re at, most of our other classes will be suitable for you too. 

Generally speaking, it's best to wait to return to exercise from six weeks after a vaginal birth or at least 12 weeks for cesarean birth. Always check with your GP before exercising as everyone’s postpartum journey is unique. 

I’ve never done Yoga or Pilates before, can I still do your classes? 

Yes! A lot of our classes have been designed for people that have never done Yoga or Pilates before. We have specific Beginners courses, which can be found in the Series section and a lot of classes can be done if you’re a beginner. Just filter by “Beginners” or type “Beginner” in the search field. 

Once you’ve tried some of these classes, feel free to explore some of the other ones as our teachers will almost always offer modifications throughout the class. 

How do I save my favourite classes? 

If you’re loving a particular class and want to do it again, just hit “add to favourites” and it will be added to your favourites section at the top of the library.

Will I need my own equipment? 

We’ve designed our classes so that they can be done with minimal equipment and space. All of our teachers will let you know at the beginning of class which equipment you’ll need, most of it is optional though, so don’t worry if you don’t have it. It will also be listed in the class description. At most, all the equipment you’ll need is;

  1. A mat - if you’re going to buy one thing, we would advise buying a mat
  2. A resistance band - can be substituted for a pair of tights, leggings etc
  3. A pilates ball 
  4. A blanket or towel 
  5. In some of our more restorative classes, the teacher may use a bolster. If you don’t have one of these, cushions and pillows can work as a substitute

You can watch Joya classes on your computer, laptop, mobile phone or even your TV (details below) 

Which browsers work best with Joya? 

For optimal viewing experience on Joya, we recommend using the most recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. We do not support Internet Explorer, as Microsoft now encourages Windows users to utilize Microsoft Edge instead. 

Playback issues may be experienced by customers using Internet Explorer or browsers that are not current. For this reason, we recommend that you check your browser version and update it. Most browsers these days will auto update though. 

It is possible to use a TV browser to watch Joya videos on, but there can be potential playback issues. For this reason, we do not recommend or guarantee that video playback will work in a TV browser. Instead, we recommend using ChromeCast or AirPlay to watch our classes on. 

Alternatively, you might like to plug your laptop in to the TV using a HDMI lead.
